8-hour basic course, usually taught 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
32-hour advanced course, usually taught in two 2-day sessions

Objectives

Upon completion of this course in full, participants will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and be able to explain patient/resident safety, continuous quality improvement and enterprise risk management theory and practice as they impact on the health care system
  • Applied critical thinking skills to selected patient safety areas in order to obtain and interpret the information contained in those areas
  • Begun to create, or enhanced, their own coherent Patient/Resident Safety Plan
